My mouth is salivating as I am even thinking about this recipe. This recipe is the best possible recipe to make the most scrumptious puppy chow you have ever tasted. Never had puppy chow? It sounds horrible yes, but it’s actually a snacky-desert type food.
I have actually been at a friend’s house when they were entertaining and they offered puppy chow as an appetizer. I have also been at a get together where the host used puppy chow as one of the fabulous desert options. So you can master this recipe and use it for whatever you feel like, whenever you feel like it!
Puppy chow is the perfect finger food as well as it is most definitely the most perfect thing to make when you are only given a moment’s notice. It is very simple to make large batches of the puppy chow so keep this in mind for whenever you are entertaining, or when your children have friends over. This is definitely a hit.
You will need 9 cups of crispy rice cereal squares. You can buy generic in fact we recommend that you buy generic to keep costs down and all crispy rice cereal squares taste the same. You will also need ½ cup of peanut butter, 1 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips and 1 ½ cups of confectioners’ sugar.
You will now need to move to your stove. On very low heat and at a very slow pace melt the chocolate and peanut butter together. Do not rush this process; you will need to be patient while melting the chocolate and peanut butter together.
Remove the chocolate and peanut butter melted mixture from the stove and add to a bowl of the crispy rice cereal squares. Mix together and keep mixing this together until all the crispy rice cereal squares are nearly evenly coated.
You will need a large Ziploc bag for this next step. Have the powdered sugar in the Ziploc bag and pour the crispy rice cereal mixture that is coated with the melted chocolate and peanut butter into the bag. Shake vigorously. You should shake until the entire mixture of rice cereal is coated with powdered sugar. Now store in an airtight container until you eat it.
Some people chose to refrigerate their portion because they like the chocolate peanut butter mixture a little crunchy.
