In the majority of the cases when people hear about summer parties, they also think about finger foods. The most important characteristic of them is that they don’t drip or fall apart and they don’t need many dishes to be served in either. Nonetheless you shouldn’t forget about offering some serving spoons, toothpicks and napkins.
One of the best solutions is to serve tortilla rollups. You could create a taco rollup, but there is also the option to make pizza rollup. The ingredients you need include 5-10 10-inch flour tortillas, 8 oz. cream cheese, 8 oz. sour cream, one cup of shredded cheddar cheese, half of package of taco seasoning, and also one can diced tomatoes and green chilies.
To start, you will have to mix together the cream cheese, seasoning, and sour cream. Add to the mixture the diced tomatoes, chilies and the cheese.
Spread the mixture over the flour tortillas, roll them up and put them in the refrigerator. After a few hours, slice them into smaller pieces.
Kabobs are also great to serve as finger food. The best thing about it is that you can put almost anything into it, that isn’t liquid. You can add fruits, like strawberries, melon and cantaloupe for a summer vibe.
For a Mediterranean twist consider lamb, tomatoes, green peppers and onions and marinate them in bottled Greek dressing before grilling.
In case of a wine tasting party think about strawberries, grapes and cheese cubes. In case you cannot find a recipe that fits your theme, you just have to make one up.
A snack mix could be everything that you want for a party. You should add 6-8 cups of plain white popped popcorn, two cups of Chex cereal, two teaspoons of ranch flavored seasoning, four tablespoons of crumbled bacon or real bacon bits, salt and pepper, two tablespoons of melted butter, and you also need one brown paper bag.
Mix the popcorn and the cereal in the paper bag and also add the melted butter to the mixture. Add the ranch dressing to the top. In the end season the mixture with salt and pepper as you wish.
The pecan mini-tarts are also great for a party. You will need one cup of finely chopped pecans, a cup of brown sugar, half of cup of flour, 2/3 cup of melted butter or margarine, and two beaten eggs. You have to start by preheating the oven and line a mini-muffin pan with paper.
Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. In another bowl mix the butter and the eggs. Add the dry ingredients as well and mix. Bake the mixture for about 20 minutes and perform the toothpick test. When the tarts are ready, the toothpick should come out clean.
You might see that there are a lot of options for finger food and the best thing about them is that they aren’t supposed to make any mess in the house. Also they are easy to make and they don’t take a lot of time to get ready.
