In case you are really into the holiday spirit, then it is very likely that you will never be tired of holiday red velvet sweets, and may be there are some that you haven’t tried yet. You have the possibility to choose between the classic cakes and also the soufflés.
Chocolate layered red velvet cake
In case of this dessert you need a cup of softened butter, two and a half cups of sugar, six large eggs, three cups of regular flour, three tablespoons of cocoa, a quarter of tablespoon of baking soda, a container of sour cream, two tablespoons of vanilla extract, two bottles of red coloring and some icing made of cream cheese.
To create the frosting you should beat two and a half cups of cream cheese and ¾ cup of softened butter with a mixer until it gets creamy. Then gradually add two and a half packages of powdered sugar. In the end the icing should be soft and creamy. Also add two tablespoons of vanilla extract.
For the dough you need to beat the butter until it gets creamy and add the sugar until the mixture gets puffy. Gradually add the eggs.
In another bowl mix the flour, baking soda and cocoa. Add this to the butter and alternate with soured cream. Keep in mind to use the mixer at a medium speed. Then just add the vanilla and the red coloring.
You will need to divide the mixture between six cake pans. Bake the cake for 18-20 minutes and perform the toothpick test. Allow the cake to cool. Then spread the cream between the layers and don’t forget to decorate the outside of the cake.
Red velvet brownies
For this special brownie you need a chopped bittersweet bar of chocolate, ¾ cup of butter, two cups of sugar, four eggs, one and a half cups of flour that is all-purpose, a bottle of red food coloring, one and a half teaspoons of baking powder, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, cream cheese icing and curls made of white chocolate for the garnish.
For the frosting you should beat the cream cheese with three teaspoons of soft butter with the help of a mixer. Then gradually add the sugar and salt and in the end also add a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
To prepare the cake you should preheat the oven. Then line a baking pan with aluminum foil and lightly grease the foil.
Add the chocolate and the remaining butter to a bowl and microwave them until they melt and become smooth. It is a good idea to stir the mixture every half a minute. Then add the sugar and eggs, while whisking. Gradually add the flour and the remaining ingredients. Just add the mixture to the pan.
Bake the brownie for 44-48 minutes and perform the toothpick test. Then take it out and allow the brownie to cool. Gently remove the brownie from the pan and add the frosting to the top. You could also garnish if you like.
