Easy and Quick No Salt Recipes

Salt contains sodium and the recommended limit for consumption of the same is 1,500 milligrams, though on an average most people consume 3,400 milligrams or more per day. This means you are consuming twice more than what you should. Here are few quick no salt recipes to limit your sodium consumption:

Turkey Stuffed with Cabbage

Ingredients

  • Cabbage head – 1
  • Lean beef (ground) – ½ lb
  • Turkey (ground) – ½ lb
  • Onion (minced) – 1
  • Wheat bread (crumbled) – 1 slice
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Water – 1¼ cup
  • Black pepper – 1/8 tsp
  • Tomatoes (diced) – 1 can
  • Brown sugar – 2 tbsp
  • Cornstarch – 1 tbsp

Direction

Core the cabbage after rinsing it and take 10 outer leaves out. Place in boiling water and simmer for few minutes. Drain and keep aside. Shred some raw cabbage. Fry turkey, beef and onion in a skillet and drain the fat. Mix this with water, bread crumbs and pepper. Set aside the tomatoes and add the juice to the mixture. Mix well. Add ¼ cup of this mixture on each of the cabbage leaf. Now place the folded side on the skillet. Add onions, carrots, tomatoes, water and shredded cabbage and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Remove the rolls and add a mixture of the lemon juice, cornstarch and brown sugar. Spread over the cabbage rolls and serve hot!

Tomato Stacks

Ingredients

  • Olive oil – 1 tsp
  • Colored bell peppers (chopped) – 2
  • Garlic clove (minced) – 1
  • Low fat sour cream – 5 tsp
  • Horseradish sauce – 1 tsp
  • Cooking spray
  • Egg white (beaten) – 1
  • Japanese breadcrumbs – ¾ cup
  • Tomatoes (one cut into 4 pieces) – 4
  • Baby arugula – ¼ cup

Directions

Take a non stick skillet and heat oil in it. Stir fry garlic and onion until brown and transfer the content to another bowl. Mix horseradish sauce and sour cream and chill them. Now preheat your broiler and apply cooking spray over baking sheet. Now place the breadcrumbs and egg white in two different bowls. Next dip the tomatoes in the egg white and cover them with the crumbs and place them on the baking sheets. Broil unless the crumbs turn golden. Let it cool on the baking sheet itself. Create four stacks with breaded and unbreaded tomatoes along with pepper mixture, arugula leaves and the mixture of the sauce and the cream.
